Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

Hey Guys - The R&R HoF was just mentioned in another thread and it got me wondering what people who have been there think about it.

    Have you been there?

What do you think about it?

Never been. I was in a Hard Rock Cafe in Boston once, they were playing country music, everyone at the bar had cowboy hats on, and there was line dancing... it was very odd.

Been there in the 90's. The building appears huge but the museum was actually smaller than I thought. After visiting I remember wishing for more interactive exhibits, more music to explore. Maybe there was a conflict with some licensing and royalties.

    Agreed.

Just one example of something that blew me away: Little inset into the wall holding two lyric notebooks, one by Springsteen for Tenth Avenue Freeze Out, one by Lennon for (IIRC) Across the Universe. Springsteen's lyrics had every other word crossed out about seven times over. Lennon's had nothing at all crossed out. The entire song (if you don't know the lyrics, look them up - it's not "moon, June, croon, ooh baby baby," I can tell you that) written down once, perfect.

WD MyBook FW -> MacBook Pro w/SSD (Audirvana Plus) -> Mapleshade Clearlink USB (Plus version) -> Semi-customized DAC (plays DSD natively; any necessary oversampling done prior to DAC in software; for more detail see blog) -> Spectral DMC-12 & DMA-150 -> Vandersteen 2Ce. Other cabling and power strip Omega Mikro/Mapleshade. Also MIT Z-Stabilizer.

It's a must go. Been there a couple of times and it is full of pieces of rock and roll artifacts and video clips. Besides, it's Cleveland; ya gotta support the rust belt!

Yep. Ask musicians that were on the Springsteen album about whether "the Boss" was a perfectionist and how many takes did it take to get it right. Lennon...what can you say.

Speaking of Springsteen, the exhibit at the Constitution Center in Philly is amazing - full of journals, artifacts, videos from early concerts - great stuff.

The Rock Hall must have really improved in the last 20 years! Must get back there.
