Primer on using audio interface to rip vinyl?
I just can't seem to find much basic information on how to use an audio interface to rip vinyl. Any info I come upon seems to be over my head. Does anyone know of a basic tutorial or primer you could point me to?
I'd ask specific questions, but at this point, I don't really know enough to know what I don't know! Right now, my general concerns are exactly to look for in an interface and how to hook it up to my system. And I mean I need it in very basic terms! I'm not looking for "the best" interface but something probably in the lower price categories that will do a proficient job, just in case you've got any specific recommendations.
Chain:
Technics SL1210 MK5 (KAB mods)
Grado Sonata1 low output
PS Audio GCPH phono preamp (with unbalanced RCA and balanced, XLR outs)
Arcam A 85 integrated amp
Harbeth Compact 7ES-3 speakers
THANK YOU!

I forgot to list my computer!
MacBook Pro 2.4 GHz Intel Core i5 running OS 10.7.4. I've been using VinylStudio software, but I'm not married to it. THANKS.

No primer, but lots of options for interfaces here
Studio-Central Community • Index page
The RME Fireface400 is popular here, but may be a bit out of your price range. Other options from M-Audio, Presonus, Echo Audio, with USB or Firewire interfaces may be right up your alley.2ch: LP12/Ittok/AT33PTG, Mac Mini (Audirvana+), RME Fireface 400, Oppo 95, ME25, ME850, Ambience 1600, Pio 508XDA
HT: Pana 65VT30a, Oppo 93, PS3, Foxtel HD, Pana DVD/HDD recorder, WDTV Live, Rotel RSX-1065, Whatmough Synergy

Some good but inexpensive ones that I know of are Tascam US-144 MkII, Creative E-MU 0204, and Roland Quad-Capture.
If you had the memory of a goldfish, maybe it would work.
