Did that with Lion this morning so I can reinstall in a separate Lion partition after upgrade. Will listen to my favorite player in both OSs, and if ML is the same or better I'll get rid of Lion altogether.
The ML installer is downloaded and ready to go, but for a reason that isn't worth the time to explain, I've got to copy ~115GB of music from the MacBook Pro over the network to my Win7 desktop's external drive before upgrading. So I've got a little less than 3 hours to wait. One never knows, do one? - Fats Waller

Other cabling and power strip Omega Mikro/Mapleshade. Also MIT Z-Stabilizer.

Hi roob - Here's a link that will explain it. I'm trying to keep this thread on topic :~)
Audirvana Plus: Direct Mode

ML in my experience is not going to interfere with Amarra. I have tested ML with Playlist Mode and Amarra mode/Preload/Album and the waters' fine. Gapless play is fine. SQ is depending on your assessment, superb! Chris C has tested all the players with ML as well and has not identified one player which was hindered by the new OSX

If you've got an internal SSD running you will discover that TRIM is not enabled. Re-running TRIM Enabler will ask to install a new version. And after you've installed and re-enabled, don't forget to reboot to get it "running" in the system. You can verify all of this is either working or not via About this Mac...More Info...System Report...Seriat ATA...and look for TRIM Support.

In spite of me complaining about a lack of new features, I actually like the new OS. Everything runs at least subjectively more smoothly, the new Safari is doing a nice job and faster, and overall the OS has a certain smoothness to it.
And as discussed in the Audirvana thread, the sound I'm experiening is impressive.
Overall, well worth the $20.iMac late 2009 8GB > Audirvana+/Amarra Hifi > Audioquest Forest USB > BelCanto mlink > Atlas Ascent BNC > Exposure 2010S2 Dac > Audioquest King Cobra > Exposure 3010S2 Integrated > Chord Carnival Classic > B&W CM8

Well, that is what they want you to think. What it really means is that they want every "developer" to pay them a $100+ tax. For commercial vendors, that means passing along a slight increase in operating expenses. For a provider of free software, it is very counter-productive.
I turned mine off immediately. I provide some package installers for free for free software projects I am involved in, and I know people are going to whine about this. Should I have to pay Apple $100 just because of this? I will not.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here's one BIG issue I've found with Mountain Lion

With Snow Leopard and Lion it was very easy to mount NFS shares using Disk Utility.
Apparently some numb-nuts PM @Apple thought it was a good idea to remove this functionality.
WTF are you thinking fool?

Good catch there, EvilTed. The help page for Disk Utility even has an entry for NFS mounts (supposed to be under the File menu, but it is MIA under ML it seems).
However, my existing NFS share still auto-connects after the upgrade (true on 2 of my 3 Macs, with the 3rd still going through the upgrade). Terminal time, I guess.Digital: Wavelength Crimson HS/Brick V3, W4S DAC2

I had a kernel panic using amarra hifi today in Mountain Lion.
"Your computer restarted because of a problem" it said after restarting.

Need Help Understnading Regarding ML Install
I downloaded and installed ML. After the restart I went to login in and after some time a message box popped up with "transition is trying to modify the system network configuration. Type your password to allow this". The choices after enter password are 'Cancel' and 'Modify Configuration'. In this message box there is an icon of a Padlock and overlaying that is a small rectangular gray screen with small green letters.
I have no idea what 'transiton' is (and it is not capitalized on this screen) and if I should allow it. On the Apple Support forum I am one of a gizillion questions. I am hoping someone more knowledgeable than me can answer this.Mac Mini 2010 with OS 10.8.2> iTunes 11.0.2 with Audivrana Plus 1.4.9.7> T+A DAC 8 >Dynaudio Focus 110A Powered Speakers. Is "transition" the name of some application you have? I updated a bunch of computers today and never saw that.

No. I looked in my applications and under utilities and nothing there. I tried to google Apple 'transition' and got nothing. I decided to hit Cancel without entering my password. In a few moments a similar screen popped up asking to allow again but this time the box said 'Allow Changes'. I hit Cancel again. It disappeared. My iMac opened up and everything seemed fine but it does concern me.

I believe it has something to do with a Transitional Security Network (WEP, WPA, etc...)

Audirvana Free no workie.
Apple removed a libtool dylib that it links to. I redirected it to one I have installed with fink, and then the application opens instead of crashing, but no sound comes out.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Just a note with Airplay & Audirvana Plus.
Works well (playing DSD tracks) - but you need to "disable" hog mode (and by extension, if using latest beta, integer mode) other wise you will get stuck on the "initialising audio" stage.
The "direct mode" of the latest beta seemed to work -- or at least it could be enabled without any obvious negative effects.
I had a couple of drops out - but was using a double wireless hop setup (ie DSD tracks on external drive attached to mini, not my macbook)Source: 1.0TB OWC Mercury Elite Pro < FW800> Mac Mini (2009 / 10.8.3)

So a quick heads up to anyone else intending to do this: A fair number of people, including me, are finding that the common way to make a USB stick install - "restore" the installer image using Disk Utility - throws an error, while Carbon Copy Cloner works fine. And then, when trying to boot the installer, again the classic Apple method - holding down the "C" key while booting - does not work, but a third party app, the excellent rEFIt boot utility, does.
