Update: Played the whole day music in iTunes shuffle mode with different file types including lossy, lossless and high-res. No crashes until now, but I heard a loud crackling noise lasting about one second. It happend 3 times in total in about 14 hours of non-stop playing. I'd consider this a bug, because I was seriously horrified by the noise.

Well, it must be me but I can't find the update. Perhaps somebody has a link for me?

Bit strange I can't find it because I'm using a licensed version of 1.3.9.3 at the moment...

    Found it! Thanks....

I've upgraded to version 1.3.9.4: playback is fine, no kernel panics (I had no kernel panics with older versions), but sometimes I get the same track played twice! Initially I though I was "dreaming" (I'm always very relaxed when I listen to music) and thought I had some kind of deja vu, but then realized a couple of tracks were playing twice. Anyone with the same issue?

Now, that you're saying it ... I had the same too but one time only during a couple of hours playback session w/ 1.3.9.3.

Downloaded and installed 1.3.9.4 without a hitch. Has been playing non-stop all morning without any errors or KPs. My W4S Dac2 can not enable Direct/Integer mode as the only limitation. Still, the performance is superb! And though I can not employ Integer mode, in this case, I am still in bliss.
    Thank you again, Damien.

I've found the time to make a 1.3.9.4 beta update:

And now back to the quest for complete stability

    Damien
I'm not too happy about the 1.3.9.4 beta. I can't make it play in Direct Mode through the RME Fireface and when then I tried playing through my USB device Benchmark DAC1-PRE, I got my (first) Kernel Panic.
Back on 1.3.9.3 beta. Works well in my Combo.
    Cheers

The Kernel Panics are back for me now w/ 1.3.9.4 beta. It happend 2 times with 24/192 music playing from within iTunes. After the crashes a simple reboot of the Macbook is not enough fo me to be able to play music again. I also have to detach the DAC from mains for a minute or so.

I am playing Ottmar Liebert's One Guitar 96/24 HDtracks DL as I write this. I have had no a glitch in performance with Audirvana Plus. The main distinction is that I am not employing Direct/Integer Mode because my Dac2 is not capable. I wonder if this contrast is helpful to those who are experiencing a variety of symptoms and for Damien who is sorting this out.

So Damien while you seek other an answer (read solution or progression of...) to make "it" happen, I offer you my time to help you contrast if in fact the sorting out for making Direct/Integer mode work for those Dac owners who can employ this enhancement in sound aids you by someone who can't employ the effect. Or is that non-sensical? However one spells the nonsense. In the spirit of making what is great, even greater, I offer you my services.
    Best,
    Richard

Latest update is nothing but trouble for me. I've got one kernel panic after another. Sometimes my MacMini 2011 can't see the M2Tech Hiface 2 anymore and I have to disconnect is to get it back working. Even after that I sometimes get no sound and have to restart. :-(

  12. #387
Latest update hasn't changed any behaviours - all ok, except for regular refusal to 'play' when new folder loaded - have to re-start Audirvana, sometimes several times - can't see a pattern (not using iTunes; using direct, exclusive etc). When it plays, it'll go forever - until next folder of tracks!

Downloaded the latest version. For me, it is generally very stable. However, I had twice a nasty loud noise where I was afraid for my speakers, and had to manually shut down Audirvana to stop it. Furthermore, stability while browsing around with the Itunes remote app is still suboptimal, when I use it I get the occasional jump or stuttering.

I forgot to tell I get some static noises as well.

Funny to see how everyone has very different experiences with the update...

Downloaded and installed 1.3.9.4. Can confrim that Direct Mode/Integer Mode is working on Emotiva XDA-1, although USB is limited to 16/48 on 2010 MacBook running Lion. Definite improvement in sound quality running in playlist mode. My main system on 2010 MacMini is still on Snow Leopard...have been avoiding the upgrade.

Installed the same 1.3.9.4 on my MacMini running Snow Leopard. Encountered the same terrible buzzing noise and skipping/crashing. This was both in iTunes integration and Playlist mode. Seems that this is stable on Lion, but not Snow Leopard.
I guess I have a reason to finally upgrade the Mini...

    Audirvana Plus: Direct Mode

Unfortunately, buzzing noise with Lion as well. With Mountain Lion only some weeks away, you're probably better of skipping Lion?

Turning off my dac while restarting my MacMini 2011 after a kernel panic helps to avoid a lot of problems like not seeing the M2Tech Hiface 2...

Those kernel panics are really annoying... :-(

We are volunteering to help testing a pre-release version. It is supposed to be annoying. :-)

The official released version is stable and I think it would suit a number of folks posting here a lot more than this beta.

Just my two cents as a fellow software developer.

Yes of course! You are right. But hey... I'm only human :-)

(I had three or four panics after each other... At that moment I was even double only human! :-)

The first day that I used 1.3.9.4 I had no issues, and I thought nirvana had been achieved, but then the stuttering and kernel panics returned---three of them yesterday. I'm not complaining: I think Damien's ability to solve the integer mode problem is astonishing, and I know that this is still a beta version, so I'm more than willing to be patient. I mention the KPs only to help Damien get a sense of what's happening. Happily, the stuttering always seems to precede a kernel panic, so I do get a bit of warning, though sometimes not enough. . .

    Only 3 kernel panics? :-)

I use 1.3.9.4 to play mainly SACD iso files and my MacMini has never had any kernel panics.
No audio dropouts & loud pop noise since 1.3.9.3
