I am absolutely amazed by the new Nine Inch Nails iPhone application. Seriously, watch this video and you'll be amazed as well. You'll want to watch the whole video for all the app's features, especially at about 3:20 into the video. I'm really speechless and I hope more of our favorite forward thinking artists follow NIN's technological leadership.

I love how NIN has embraced their fans instead of trying to hide photos, info, songs, etc.
NIN also had recent free downloads of their new albums, truly innovative, no cops or lawsuits here....
Interesting, Trent Resnor is speaks intelligently, very different from many punk/industrial artists.

Very cool video.
He has always been into technology.
I have a Blu Ray disc of one of his concerts and the video and audio quality is pretty stunning. Apparently, he wanted it to be that way.

Artists are discovering the way to making money in the music business is now through touring and tours only work if you have legions of fans interested in what you are doing. It gets even better if the fans view themselves as a part of a community, especially if that community includes the band members. This is a superb and very intelligent way of doing just that.
The other clever thing is that every other forward-thinking artist, record company and A&R person will be in negotiation to buy the same app for their own ends. I'd lay bets there will be a dozen similar packages from other acts following soon.
