BEEMB
... and no blu ray. !! oh well ... Glad I moved to the PC, even if it is more difficult to set up for audio than a Mac. They do look seriously good though. HTPC: AMD Athlon 4850e, 4GB, Vista, BD/HD-DVD into -> ADM9.1 Link to comment
radar2886
A little off topic but do the new Nvida graphic chips help with quality of DVD playback or watching hi-def downloads from Itunes. I am currently happy with the video quality of my mini feeding a Samsung plasma and was hoping for a lower priced notebook so I could switch. I do not know if it is worth the extra cost. Labarum
I do wonder what they are up to. You would think they would want to close the gap with Windows' Laptops and increase market share. Instead the gap is approaching a factor of three. Brian Squeezebox Classic - Beresford Caiman-Gator DAC - Quad 520f with Dada refresh - Quart 980s German Tower Loudspeakers. Link to comment
The Computer Audiophile
Hi Brian - Can you elaborate on that a little? Founder of Audiophile Style | My Audio Systems Link to comment
Labarum
The Macbook (not the Macbook Pro) was only marginally more expensive than an equivalent Windows Laptop a year ago, but the price of Windows laptops has been dropping. I was hoping that Apple would respond to these economic realities with a product rather cheaper than the 13" Macbook. So it seems Apple is yet again drifting upmarket. Surely the time is ripe to go for greater market share? They could overplay the "We are better than anyone else" hand: they have done that before. I wonder what plans they have for the Macmini - again, I was hoping they would improve the specs of that, update the port configuration and sell a "Macmedia". Not to be. Not yet. A big disappointment. I will buy a Squeezebox Classic when Amazon have them back in stock for £130. I will buy a Netbook for a third of the price of a Macbook. I will have bitperfect streaming from my desktop PC to my HiFi and the ability to control the streaming from the browser on the Netbook, which I will use for portable and armchair browsing and writing.
