Autocompression itunes plug in....

Does anybody know of an applescript, or itunes plug in that automatically makes a 16 Bit copy of a 24 Bit download.

I see a real use for this as more of us swing over to purchasing Hi Res 24 Bit tracks directly, but yet have gear (such as ipods, iphones and sonos) that still can only play 16 Bit tracks.

The place to look is Doug's Scripts. That site has some very handy scripts as the name implies.

The easiest way is to select the tracks you need converted, right click and chose convert to ... This will make a 16 bit copy as long as the settings are correct in iTunes preferences.

The "useablity" (for want of abetter word) is a big problem for 24BIT tracks IMHO. Even better, it would just be great if there was some majic script/plugin out there that would automatically play a 24 BIT track as 16Bit output..ie retain just the one 24Bit track in itunes(without a 16bit copy).

No more doubling up tracks, no more making copies for other devices: just buy the 24Bit track and play it where-ever on whatever you like!

Pity there isn't an ipod or sonos plugin that just plays the 24 BIT tracks!
