• CA West Coast Visit

Last week I had the pleasure of visiting Definitive Audiolink in Seattle and Schnee Studiolink in Los Angeles. Many audiophiles are familiar with the Music Matters events held every year at Definitive Audio. My visit last week had nothing to do with an MM event but had everything to do with computer audio. I can't get into the details at this time but I will say Definitive Audio and a few other high end audio retailers have something big up their sleeves. After visiting Seattle I flew down to visit Bill Schnee of Bravura Recordslink at Schnee Studio in LA. Bill gave me a complete tour of his studio and shared a few stories of recording the greats over the years. Music lovers like myself can't help but feel overwhelmed when looking at all the Gold and Platinum records on the walls of Schnee Studio. Over the years Bill has done some tremendous work that continues to this day. I was like a kid in a candy store when Bill brought me into the control room. He had me sit behind the console and listen to a few new tracks he recently recorded. In addition to these tracks Bill played me the very first track he recorded at 24/192 with his custom JCF Audiolink analog to digital converter. This is the recording for Bill that solidified high resolution digital as indistinguishable from the live audio feed he hears in the control room. Since this original recording Bill has been busy recording "albums" at 24/192 for the Bravura label. Read more to see pictures from my visit and a little video.

I know financing the project is a major hold-up. He is talking to a couple different parties about it, but who really knows if either will pull through. I sure hope so.
Hi Chris,
I think it's neat that you travel around and meet influential people in the industry. With that said I would like to suggest that you visit Hawthorn Stereo in Seattle the next time you are in town. They are a Naim shop and have been extremely helpful in leading me to great sound. They've got a good demo room where you could get some exposure to the Naim line. I find Naim's and Hawthorn Stereo's straight forward no nonsense approach refreshing in an industry filled with razzel-dazzel.
