Gonzo1
So, having added the Macbook and a 1TB HD to my main system, I have now started a computer only system to listen to when working (yeah, right) on the computer. Aric Audio Tube Pre-Amp $185 Sonic Impact T-Amo $50 (with power supply) JBL Control 1 Monitors $80 Squeezebox SB3 $300 Damn! What fun. The speakers are 16" from my head, so the volume is low, but the resolution and holographic imaging is great! Obviously it won't replace my McIntosh/Sonus Faber system, and I know I can add a DAC, new speakers and another amp for superior performance, but with stuff just sitting around the house, this setup sounds wonderful. The Computer Audiophile
That is pretty cool. I bet it feels like you're getting something for nothing since you used stuff you already had around the house. Plus you get all the benefits of an awesome music server! Gonzo1
Yeah, I really never experimented with near field listening before. I'm sure the T-amp never really put out more than a couple of watts. McIntosh C500T&P, MC501s, Sonus Faber Cremona M, Ayre QB-9, Oppo BDP-83 Mac Mini Link to comment
