• Digital Music Matters

Join Computer Audiophile at Listen Up in Colorado for Digital Music Matters. Myself, David Solomon of Peachtree Audio, and Adrian Eiben of Sonos will be talking about nothing but digital audio for three nights. The events will take place in Colorado Springs August 24, Denver August 25, and Boulder August 26. I'll be talking about how to get the best audiophile sound quality form a music server as well as sharing some tips and tricks related to computer audio. As usual I'll have plenty of high resolution material to play through a number of great audio systems at Listen Up. I hope to see many of the Computer Audiophile readers during this trip. Read more for RSVP information and the official event postcard. I look forward to seeing many of you there :~)

For additional information see the Listen Up website.

Video of the event would be fantastic. I know it's not something you've wanted to do in the past, but those of us on the other side of the globe would be very grateful, even if it's a simple camera on a tripod pointing vaguely at the presentation area!

This would make a great podcast. I hope you can record it or video the event. I can't make it to Colorado from Georgia.

Chris, I was wondering if you were going to be using any HRT USB DACs. Listen Up is a dealer, and I'd be happy to hook u up

      Hello Chris
Perhaps since you have the opportunity to present with Adrien Eiben from Sonos, you might inquire about the future of Sonos support for hi-rez music. It has been all over the Sonos forums, and as a very satisfied long term owner of a large sonos system, I know it's something that many Sonos users including myself, would love to see. It's great though, to see Sonos out at events like this, supporting the community. Good luck.

Glad to see that you are attending a conference on digital music. Hopefully there will be some discussion on Linux music media.

After reading your recommendation on building a music server and running Windows 7 and J river media I went with Windows 7 and J river. But, because of your mention of Linux as an alternative, I downloaded Ubuntu 10 onto my laptop and was impressed. I have now downloaded UbuntuStudio. If it proves to be better than Ubuntu 10 I will be leaving Windows as a music source.

Hopefully, you will have an update on Digital music sources for music lovers at this conference.

Please let us know of your assessments.
This sounds like an excellent opportunity for us Colorado natives, and I'm looking forward to coming out for either the Denver or Boulder dates.
As to recording, I don't know how the fine folks at ListenUp would feel about it, but I'd be happy to bring an SLR and a tripod to get a stationary video of the presentation if everyone is amenable to that. Shoot me a message here if you'd like and we can discuss details.

Thanks

I'm afraid I wasn't aware of this conference until after everything was booked - and I hope it went off splendidly!!
I'd love to get HRT involved in any future events. I cherish things like this that can bring us music addicts and computer audio people together for a good time, as well as spreading some knowledge around.
I am sure I will learn even more about my new Win 7 computer. I just had the old Win xp finally giving me decent sound. Still the mac and ATV are just so simple.

Hi Guys - I'm flying into Colorado Springs tomorrow (Monday) a day before the first event. Any good places in town to eat? Or CD shops I must see?

Don't get down to the springs a lot but had a really nice group dinner at Craftwood Inn in Manitou Springs. Great wild game and v good wine list. Just a short drive from center of town.

The Yelpers seem to like Adams Mountain Cafe, also in Manitou and if you like Thai...Bhan Thai on the north side

I used to like going to Sheldon Jacobs place near Lake Minnetonka way back in the early 90s. Seems it is toast now though.
