Ripping high resolution Blu-ray audio just got easier thanks to Computer Application Studio. Its newest release of DVD Audio Extractor now supports Blu-ray audio. There are a few caveats to be aware of prior to embarking on a Blu-ray ripping weekend. This article details the software and hardware requirements and the simplest method of ripping Blu-ray audio to date. This method isn't free but I guarantee it's easy enough for even the most unseasoned computer audiophiles.

Ripping the audio from CDs, DVDs and Blu-ray discs has never been easier and there's never been a better time than now to start ripping. Pink Floyd recently released The Dark Side Of The Moon Immersion Box set containing six physical discs including three Redbook CDs, two DVDs, and one Blu-ray disc. The ease of ripping audio from plastic discs and the plethora of new content available from Pink Floyd have given me great reason to create a thoroughly updated DVD and Blu-ray disc ripping guide using the new Dark Side Of The Moon Immersion Box Set. Pink Floyd fans and enthusiasts of music stored on plastic discs rejoice, one's favorite two channel and multi-channel music can now be liberated.

    2. Blu-ray Ripping

June 7, 2009 I published an article about ripping audio from Blu-ray discs. That was the last time I ripped audio from a Blu-ray. The whole process is nothing like ripping a CD and is not worth the effort for the most part. Even with new software programs that make it a bit easier to rip these discs, for the average Joe ripping Blu-ray audio is a disaster. Fortunately there is a technology that solves this whole Blu-ray ripping issue. It's called mShuttle and it puts an end to ripping Blu-ray audio discs. I saw mShuttle in action at the AES convention last year, but had not actuated used this technology until very recently. Now that I have personal experience with mShuttle I can honestly say that every Blu-ray audio disc should include mShuttle technology.

    2. Blu-ray Ripping

The recent release of Neil Young's Archives on Blu-ray Disc piqued my interest in the Blu-ray format. The audio on Neil's Archives is at 24/192 for the Blu-ray box compared to 24/96 for the standard DVD box and 16/44.1 for the CD box. I have no desire to purchase a dedicated Blu-ray player, but I am very excited about the possibility of ripping audio off Blu-ray discs that I legally own. Ripping Blu-ray content is not the easiest task and I was initially unsure if I could actually get the audio from a Blu-ray Disc. Instead of purchasing the whole Archives box for a few hundred dollars, I picked up the Dave Matthews & Tim Reynolds: Live at Radio City Blu-ray Disc. This way I wouldn't have a box full of expensive unplayable discs if my little project went awry.
